Jean Daneel Initial White Blend 2008
Jean Daneel is one of South Africa’s very best winemakers. Having worked for several of the better larger wineries where he consistently won awards including the best Chenin Blanc in South Africa, he now has his own small winery out toward Cape Agulhas where he produces top level boutique wines in tiny quantities. Total production for all his wines runs at around 4000 cases per year!
What’s it like?
Jean Daneel Initial White Blend 2008 is a blend of Jean’s famous Chenin with Colombard, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The combination works really well with initial tropical citrus flavours followed by honey. A luscious full body yet with cleansing acicidy and a clean mneral finish. Yet again Jean has created a wine with just about everything! Lovely on it’s own, even better when paired with food.
