Robertson Number One Constitution Road Shiraz

Robertson Winery has grown to become South Africa’s third largest producer. Quite a remarkable feat for a grower owned winery, given the trend of the multinationals towards churning out vast quantities rather than quality. The secret to their success is their dedication to producing only quality wines, and at affordable prices.

What’s it like?

In a word – fantastic. It’s been wood aged for 34 months producing a wine with full body and a silky smooth mouthfeel. There’s great fruit with sweet tannins and a lively acidity making it pair really well with food. Tremendous length too. It’s like a South African Amarone. I strongly advise you to try a bottle. John Platter awarded the 2006 4.5 Stars!

How much? Where from?

Robertson Number One Constitution Road Shiraz 2006 is difficult to find in the UK as Robertson only make 5000 bottles per year, mainly for domestic consumption. But you can buy a bottle from South African specialist and all round good wine specialist  www.goodwineonline.co.uk for a very reasonable £14.95
