Kleinood Tamboerskloof Syrah 2006

kleinood tamboerskloof syrahKleinood Tamboerskloof Syrah is a very small production, hand crafted wine from a boutique winery owned by Gerard de Villiers. Gunther Schultz is the winemaker and they have expert advice in the vineyard from Tuscany’s renowned viticultarist Alberto Antonini. They only make this one wine (5000 cases) for sale although they do make a few cases of a white Viognier for themselves!

What’s it like?

Very good indeed. Crystal clear ruby, with big savoury fruit flavours. It’s very smooth, full bodied without being heavy. Very much in the style of a good Rhone rather than a new world Shiraz. The strong fruit flavours are beautifully balanced by a lift of Viognier on the finish instantly refeshing the palate. Great with food, or still great without!

How much? Where from?

Kleinood Tamboerskloof Syrah is very hard to find in the UK and only seems to be available through boutique specialist www.goodwineonline.co.uk at £17.35
