Jean Daneel Signature Red Blend 2005

jean daneel signature red blend 2005Jean Daneel is one of South Africa’s very best winemakers. Having worked for several of the better larger wineries where he consistently won awards including the best Chenin Blanc in South Africa, he now has his own small winery out toward Cape Agulhas where he produces top level boutique wines in tiny quantities.  Total production for all his wines runs at around 4000 cases per year!

What’s it like?

Jean Daneel Signature Red Blend 2005 is a blend of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 20% Shiraz, aged in oak for 33 months. It’s a big powerful wine, fruit driven and very smooth with great overall balance. Similar in style and power to a good Amarone!
