Amarone della Valpolicella Il Bosco Cesari 2001

Published by admin

il-boscoGerardo Cesari is one of Italy’s best producers, based in the Veneto region where he makes some superb wines. He was voted ‘Italian Winemaker of the Year’ for 2004 and again for 2006! The ‘Il Bosco’ is a single vineyard Amarone only made in exceptional years, and it’s right up there with the very best.

What’s it like?

Big, rich, powerful, smooth, intense flavours, sweet tannins, superb length, great balance… you get the picture? It’s a fantastic wine. If you’re an Amarone fan it’s well worth trying to get hold of a bottle as the 2001 was a great year and is now very rare.

How much? Where can I buy it?

Well it’s so rare any wine merchant lucky enough to have any can virtually name their own price. The weak pound means top end wines are increasing steeply in price and 3 duty increases in the last 12 months don’t help either. To give you an idea, everywine.co.uk are charging £47.82 for the 2003 so long as you buy a case of 6 at a time! However good old reliable www.goodwineonline.co.uk are still charging a very reasonable £34.50 for the Amarone della Valpolicella Il Bosco Cesari 2001 for whatever quantity you fancy!
