Tim Knappstein Riposte ‘the sabre’ Pinot Noir 2007
This is a cracking bottle of Pinot Noir from Adelaide Hills in South Australia. Tim so
ld his former winery then realised he could”t go on without making wine and relaunched himself. He’s famous for Pinot Noir having won the title of ’South Australa’s best Pinot Noir producer’ for a remarkable seven times!
What’s it like?
It’s fairly full bodied for a Pinot having spent some time in oak. There’s plenty of fruit with noticeable tannins. Overall it’s an elegant, soft and supple wine suited to enjoying on it’s own or will pair well with a variety of foods from game to heartier red meat dishes. On a personal note I must say I’m delighted to see a passionate wine maker saying ‘here’s one in the eye’ to the big boys. He apparently wasn’t very happy with what the new owners of his brand were doing, sacrificing quality for commercial gain, so he relaunched under the brand name ’Riposte’ as a bit of an in joke. Well done Tim!
How much? Where do I find it?
It’s usually around £15 per bottle but the best deal currently available for Tim Knappstein Riposte Pinot Noir ‘the sabre’ is with goodwineonline.co.uk at £12.98
