Susana Balbo is one of Argentina’s winemaking stars. She makes some exceptional wines, but as with most producers this has to be financed by the production of cheaper, more popular wines alongside. The Crios range are Susana’s entry level wines, and as such are pretty good.

What’s it like?

Pale gold in colour so it comes as quite a suprise to be hit with a very floral flavour when tasted. I didn’t realise I new what elderflower tasted like until I tried a bottle of this. Very floral with a dry finish, and quite short on the finish.

How much? Where do I buy it?

There’s plenty of independents selling this. www.wine-searcher.com shows Corking wines selling it for £10.49 a bottle which I think must be a mistake. The importer’s RRP is £8.99 so shop around and I’m sure you’ll find it at this price.
