Eral Bravo YBS 2005

ybs1Now this is a fantastic winery. ‘Eral Bravo’ is the name selected for their winery by the Sanchez Nieto family who have been producing top quality wines in Argentina for over 30 years. It’s based in Mendoza where the family own some of the best vineyards, all at altitude, producing premium quality grapes. This is backed up by a state of the art winery and the goal of producing outstanding wines with a modern appeal.

What’s it like?

Superb wine, made in very limited quantities. YBS stands for Year’s Barrel Selection, and is a blend of Malbec, Cab Sauv and Syrah. They’re fermented and aged separately then blended to produce this outstanding wine. It’s a big, powerful wine, wonderfully smooth, beautifully balanced with great length. It won the International Wine Challenge Gold Medal in 2007, Wines of Argentina Gold Medal and Hyatt Best Wines Gold Medal, so it’s not just me who thinks it’s a great wine.

How much and where from?

It’s available from several good independents including Old School Wines but the best value for Eral Bravo YBS is www.goodwineonline.co.uk at £23
